a culture of celebration and liberation

Our Focus

Chindu concerns itself primarily with Dalits. It seeks to influence Dalits in a manner that new meanings and values of resurgent Dalit cultures become manifest in their beliefs and lifestyles. Chindu is committed to deepening these new cultural perspectives and practices among Dalit communities. Simultaneously it interfaces with other marginalised communities and movements to create a space for mutual learning through cultural interaction, leading to a shared vision. In all its interventions, Chindu emphasises a centrality of focus on women and children.

Geographically, Chindu’s main area of activity is located in Andhra Pradesh. The organisational perspective, however, has always taken into account national and international contexts. Over the years, its cultural interventions have extended across south India, as well as to the states of Manipur, Tripura and Odisha.
